Sparse map of San Dimitri Point, the western tip of Gozo below 80 m cliffs: the shallow reef plateau where the boat moors, the drop-off to about 20 m, the boulder slope to 30 m and the swim-through under boulders at 18 m between reef and cliff. Coastline from OpenStreetMap; the reef outline is approximate and the rest follows the St Andrew's Divers Cove (gozodive.com) description, so positions are approximate. Whale Cave and Tal-Barba Cave lie about 1.2 km further south near the Inland Sea and are not drawn. The map origin is the reef (36.0688, 14.1837); the site coordinates lie about 500 m offshore to the north-west.

San Dimitri Point at San Lawrenz is the western end of the island, named for the chapel above it. It is exposed to everything and can only be dived on a calm day.

The cliff below is cut with a series of cracks and caverns, some big and long — Whale Cave and Tal-Barba Cave both go in about 120 m, which puts them firmly beyond cavern diving. The open-water side is a wall into deep blue with pelagics passing, which is what people go for.
