The two lines, the objects and their depths at Eiland 4; shoreline and piers from OpenStreetMap (© OpenStreetMap contributors, ODbL). The yellow zone buoys, placed from the PDOK aerial photos (2021 and current), sit in a row about 125 m off the quay over 170 m of shore, which matches De Meerkoeten's 'ca. 175 by 125 m' zone, and the lines run 330°. The line starts lie about 35–45 m off the quay beyond the shallow shelf; the entries are put where the 330° course meets the quay (the exact stairs are not known). All positions are approximate.

The Vinkeveense Plassen were dug for peat from the Golden Age onwards — turf for Amsterdam, leaving shallow water divided by legakkers, the long drying banks. Then in the 1960s and 70s they were dug again, for sand: the A2 motorway and the Amsterdam-Zuidoost development both came out of this lake, and took it down to an unheard-of 50 m in places. The spoil was heaped into a line of islands, the Zandeilanden.
Zandeiland 4 is the one with a road to it. Every other island needs a boat; this one you park at. That is the entire reason it accounts for 39 dives — 2012 to 2020, to 20.5 m, the longest 98 minutes — while Zandeilanden 8, 9 and 12 have one or two each.
The site itself has platforms, lines, sunken objects and a wall dropping off the island edge into the deep water.
The position was for a long time Zandeiland, a residential street in Meerhoven, Eindhoven, 92 km away, with all 39 dives sitting on it.
