Dahab's town beach at the north end of Masbat bay: entry from the beach corner, down the sand slope along the south edge of the reef flat past coral heads at 7–9 m, out to the reef tip with the crack at about 20 m, sand to 30 m and deeper water beyond 40 m. The Lighthouse is in the town, at the north end of the Masbat waterfront, and it is where Dahab does everything: open-water courses, night dives, freediving, equipment checks, and the first and last dive of most people's week. There is a shallow sandy bay with a bit of coral in it for training, and then, about fifty metres out, the reef edge and a wall.

That combination — a proper wall reachable from a café table — is the reason Dahab became a diving town rather than just a nice bay. The wall itself carries the usual Gulf of Aqaba life: hard coral on the shoulder, gorgonians deeper, glassfish in the overhangs, and enough fish diversity that people who have dived it two hundred times still do it again.
