Shag Rock, a reef about 1 km across at the eastern edge of the Strait of Gubal, outline from OpenStreetMap. The Kingston lies on its western tip (Red Sea Wreck Project position); the reef dive drifts from there along the southern wall with the reef on the left shoulder to a zodiac pick-up. The sandy plateau at 8-10 m with a permanent mooring is not placed because its position is unknown; drift direction depends on the current.

Shag Rock, sometimes logged as Shag Island, sits about five miles south of Sha'ab Ali and six from the Thistlegorm. It is a large reef with a sandy plateau at 8–10 m and a permanent mooring, and on its northern side at about 15 m lies the Kingston, wrecked there in 1881.
This entry covers the dive logged against the reef; the wreck has its own file at
egy-kingston-shag-rock.md.
