Where

The Marcus (the tile wreck)

wreck

The fourth Abu Nuhas wreck, loaded with Italian floor tiles — and the one whose name is genuinely unsettled, with the log's "Marcus" arguably the better answer than the usual "Chrisoula K".

Plan: penetration to a maximum of 1/3. First we visited the engine room (against the rules). It was said to be fairly silty and cramped; both are true, but that also means fewer divers have been in and there is still a lot of detail to see. There are spare parts in cabinets, a spanner on the floor and hoses and cables everywhere. Very cool. The holds were full of granite tiles; some stacks had toppled and every tile said "made in Italy". The galley had a big stove and the workshop was well equipped with a lathe and a pillar drill. Absolutely brilliant dive!
