Southern end of the Westerveldse Kolk, the dive area by the boothelling: cars at 3.1, 4.5 and 7.1 m, small boats, a motor boat at 4.1 m, oil drums, posts and building rubble, and the band of zebra mussels that winds through the kolk at about 4 m. Shoreline, slipway and jetties from OpenStreetMap; positions are approximate, and recent dike works may have moved or buried objects. The map shows only the southern bay; the site point is in the middle of the kolk, about 280 m north of the slipway.

A kolk is not an extraction pit. It is the scour hole left behind when a dyke bursts: the water coming through cuts a deep round pit on the inland side, and when the breach is repaired the hole stays. The Dutch river landscape is dotted with them, each one the memorial of a flood.
The Westerveldse Kolk is on the north side of Zwolle. Two dives, August 2014 and April 2015, to 6.6 m.
