The Speicherbecken Geeste is an artificial reservoir near Lingen in the Emsland, built as the cooling-water store for the Emsland power stations — the Lingen nuclear plant and the gas-fired units beside it. Water is taken from and returned to it rather than to the Ems directly.
Diving is on the reservoir itself: a shallow, flat, fresh-water basin with a maximum in this log of 12.6 m, platforms and objects placed on the bottom for training, and no current.
Seventeen dives between April 2014 and April 2026. That span is longer than it looks — the Emsland reactor was shut down on 15 April 2023, as one of the last three nuclear power stations in Germany. Dennis has dived the cooling reservoir on both sides of the end of German nuclear power.
